CHERRIES Örebro | Second Open Call for Solutions

CHERRIES is calling European companies and organisations to solve the “Breaking and preventing involuntary loneliness among elderly” challenge

Closed Call
CALL OPENS: Sep 24, 2021
CALL ENDS: Nov 25, 2021
RELATED REGION: Örebro

The Challenge:

Promoted by Region Örebro County and Activa Foundation, the challenge is to find the persons who are involuntary lonely and offer them a social context. In addition, the challenge aims to solve long-term loneliness risks leading to self-isolation from social contacts and society in general. There is also often an expectation that others will make contact, an expectation that is rooted in a perception that they do not want to be a burden. Therefore, the people with the greatest need for social contacts can be difficult to reach with various efforts that aim to break the loneliness and offer a social context. In the groups that are easier to reach, there are people who have understood that there is a connection between loneliness and lack of social contacts, who in this way also see a benefit in getting involved and participating in various forms of activities.

Therefore, we need to work in new ways to find and engage the group of older people that we do not reach on a daily basis with efforts to reduce involuntary loneliness.
