CHERRIES consortium e-meeting #2

In mid-June (16-18 June), CHERRIES team will gather online for an “unusual consortium e-meeting”.

Due to the current situation (COVID-19 pandemic), the second consortium meeting -that was meant to take place in Orebro, Sweden- will be held online.

Organised around three half day sessions, the meeting will see the active participation of all consortium members that will be progressing with the preparation of the territorial frameworks for RRI-based experimentations in the healthcare sector.

Partners are adjusting the original plans (physical workshops and training activities for stakeholders of the regional healthcare ecosystem) to deliver the project activities according to the current circumstances.

Stay tuned for more information about the regional experiments and the other CHERRIES opportunities.

”Blockchain use cases in healthcare” new report of the EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum

The EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum just released the thematic report “BLOCKCHAIN USE CASES IN HEALTHCARE“.

The paper examines how blockchain might be used to address a number of serious challenges that the healthcare industry faces today in Europe:

1) the problems from the perspective of the individual and his or her health data. The report looks at how blockchain could support self-sovereign identity paradigms to health data, allowing individuals to store their own health records and control access, and the possible advantages this could provoke.

2) the issues from the perspective of the healthcare industry, a strongly data-driven ecosystem. The report explores how blockchain could help to find and/or make better use of the huge amount of health-related data.

3) the challenges faced in the administration of healthcare. The report analyses the contribution of blockchain in re-shaping healthcare ecosystems by bringing together all players in the system on one platform and enable new models of healthcare distribution (towards a stronger decentralisation).

4) the COVID-19 pandemic. The report -prepared during the height of COVID-19- is also looking at how the blockchain community has been responding to the crisis.

The European Blockchain Observatory and Forum engages in analysis and reporting on a wide range of important blockchain themes, driven by the priorities of the European Commission, and based on input from its Working Groups and other stakeholders. As these insights become available, the European Blockchain Observatory and Forum creates a series of academic and thematic reports, which are available here: https://www.eublockchainforum.eu/reports

CHERRIES website goes live

CHERRIES team is pleased to welcome you on our brand-new project website. A virtual window on CHERRIES activities, learnings, and opportunities.

Started in January 2020, CHERRIES | Constructing Healthcare Environments through Responsible Research Innovation and Entrepreneurship is an EU funded project aimed at enabling Responsible, Research and Innovation (RRI) policy experiments in the healthcare sector in three European territories – in Murcia (ES), Örebro (SE) and the Republic of Cyprus (CY).

European territories are at the core of CHERRIES action.

The CHERRIES team applies the RRI framework to mobilise territorial stakeholder ecosystems and engage them into regional pilot actions aimed at:
1. identifying needs in the healthcare sector at territorial level

2. encourage the proposition and co-creation of innovative solutions to the identified needs

3. stimulate institutional reflection processes on how to innovate products and services in the healthcare sector through participatory approaches

4. present evidence-based recommendations for revision of sectoral policies, strategies and innovation support instruments.
